Changing work attire post Covid19
As a female running my own mentoring business, I completely understand how the pandemic has affected our work attire. With many of us working from home, we had the opportunity to dress in more comfortable and casual clothing. As we transition back to meetings and the office, it's important to consider how we want to present ourselves.
Personally, I have found that dressing more relaxed but still professional has been a great way to feel comfortable and confident in the workplace. This means opting for comfortable pants, skirts or dresses, paired with a nice top.. I've also been wearing more flats or sneakers instead of heels, which has been a welcome change for my feet!
Here are five benefits of dressing more in more relaxed clothing whilst remaining professional at work:
1. A boost in comfort: Dressing in comfortable clothing can help you feel more comfortable throughout the day, which can help you focus on your work and be more productive.
2.Confidence is key: When you feel comfortable and confident in your clothing, it can help boost your self-esteem and make you feel more excited to take on new challenges.
3. Improved creativity: Comfortable clothing can help you feel more relaxed and open-minded, which can help you tap into your creativity and come up with new ideas.
4. Enhanced work-life balance: Dressing in relaxed and comfortable clothing can also help you transition more easily between your work life and personal life, without those stressful wardrobe decisions making it easier to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
5. Optimise your health: Wearing comfortable clothing can help reduce physical discomfort and prevent health issues such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches that can be caused by uncomfortable clothing. This can help you feel better physically and mentally, which can lead to better job performance and overall well-being.
Overall, I think it's great that we have the opportunity to redefine what professional dress means in a post-COVID world. It's about finding a balance between comfort and professionalism that works for us, while still respecting the expectations of our workplaces and/or business industry.
