How to Make Time for Personal Goals as a Business Owner

For the past 20 years, I have run my own businesses and I know first hand how challenging it can be to operate a business whilst trying to pursue your personal goals.

It's easy to let the demands of your business overtake you and forget about your own needs. That's why I will share some tips to assist you to find the time for your personal goals.

Set clear priorities

It's critical to define your priorities but you can only do this when you decide what matters the most to you in both your personal and your business. Make a list of your top personal goals and block off time on your calendar for them, just as you would for your work-related task.

Delegate tasks

It's simple to get caught up in the trap of attempting to do everything on your own. However, delegating tasks can free up time for personal activities. Determine which tasks can be assigned to your employees or to contractors. This will free up your time allowing you to concentrate on what you’re good at and your overall strengths.

Avoid being distracted

Distractions can be a huge time waster. Set aside specific times to check social media and emails. To stay on your tasks, consider utilising productivity tools like time-tracking apps or website blockers.

Take breaks

It's also crucial to take breaks during the day to rejuvenate and concentrate. Exercise can be a fantastic method to lower stress and boost energy levels. Make time for personal activities such as spending time with family and friends, hobbies, or just rest and recharge during downtime.

Set realistic goals

Set achievable personal goals that won't conflict with your business goals. Break down your goals into doable, shorter tasks that you can complete over a specific time. You'll be motivated and on track if you do this.

As a business mentor, I'm here to support you in achieving your business and personal goals. You'll achieve a better work-life balance and prevent burnout if you make time for your personal interests.
